LETIX, the Law Enforcement Technology Information Exchange, announces the launch of LUCID, the LETIX Universal Case Identification Database.  LUCID connects industry and law enforcement allowing participating industry partners to interact seamlessly with thousands of independent law enforcement agencies across the United States.  At the same time, law enforcement investigators can use LUCID to collaborate across jurisdictions, an essential requirement for effective prosecution of the most serious identity theft cases.

LUCID has been in development for over three years and incorporates feedback from major retailers, card issuers and numerous federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.  LUCID is a secure state-of-the-art system that connects participating industry partners with registered law enforcement agencies.  Industry partners can submit compromised account numbers, product serial numbers, addresses, and related contact information that is then made available, at no charge, to law enforcement.

With LUCID, participating industry partners gain the ability to quickly pass compromised data and contact information to the thousands of law enforcement agencies across the United States.  Law enforcement can then use this information collaboratively in an effort to identify and prosecute the most serious perpetrators of identity theft.
